Socket Sets: what you get and how to choose
Heydake socket sets come in 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch drive. The sockets are chrome vanadium (CR-V) steel with a black finish that resists rust. Six-point sockets grip the flat sides of the bolt, not the corners. This means fewer rounded-off bolts. Each case has a marked slot for every socket.
- CR-V chrome vanadium steel with a rust-resistant black finish
- Six-point sockets that grip the flats and resist rounding
- Metric and SAE sizes in a labelled case - 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2-inch drive
Socket Sets: frequently asked questions
Are Heydake sockets impact-rated?
The sockets are forged CR-V steel and work with power tools up to about 150 ft-lb of torque. For very high-torque impact work, use a dedicated impact socket. Every socket also works with a hand ratchet.
What is the difference between 6-point and 12-point sockets?
A 6-point socket grips the six flat sides of a bolt. It holds better and is less likely to round off a stuck bolt. A 12-point socket is easier to slide on in a tight space, but grips less. For most work, 6-point is the safer choice.
